A HERO WITHOUT TIME – VULCAN

In astrology, the past, present and future are intertwined because, as in classical teachings, time is not a linear concept, but a spiraling one.

Therefore, although the existence of the planet Vulcan, on which I will write an article and put forward some arguments, has not yet been “scientifically” proven – in the past of its discovery – in the future of its existence; in this very moment, I am humbly writing it for the sole purpose of awareness;

Hera, the goddess, gave birth to the famous Hephaestus all by herself, without making love to anyone, only because out of anger and resentment against her husband.

And Hephaestus became the master artist of the descendants of the god of the sky, Uranus.

In the science of astrology, the mythology and stories associated with the planets provide us with significant data about the characters of the celestial symbols and their connections with each other. Vulcan, in mythology, embodies the character of Hephaestus. He is the son of Hera (Juno) and Zeus (Jupiter), as it is best known in mythology. However, according to the Hesiodic narrative, Hera was jealous of Zeus’ giving birth to Athena (Pallas) by removing her from his own head and Hera brought Hephaestus to life with parthenogenesis, that is, self-birth, to avenge Zeus. No matter how he landed, this poor soul came to this world as an ugly and lame creature…

 

Hera, being the only wedded wife of Zeus, after giving birth to this ugly and lame god, is disgusted with him and wants to get rid of him quickly. She hurls poor baby Hephaestus from the top of Mount Olympus into the depths of the sea. It is mentioned in some sources that the ugly baby, Hephaestus, was lame after this fall, which lasted a full day and night, after hitting the sea harshly. On the other hand, in the Iliad, he says that he was thrown to the island of Lemnos by his father, Zeus, because he took Hera’s side in an argument between his mother and father, who accepted him back when he was 9 years old. In this case, in some sources, it is this second fall that causes his lameness. None the less, poor Hephaestus with his unusual ugliness was exiled from Mount Olympus, home to the ornate gods.

 

Goddesses of the sea, Thetis and Eurynome find this unwanted baby and take him through the passages of Poseidon (Neptune) to an underground cave and mother him. For nine years, Hephaestus spends a joyful childhood. In the cave at the very bottom of the sea, where Poseidon ends and Hades begins, our baby protagonist discovers fire. Also, in some sources, one day when he was playing at the seaside, he saw the remains of a fire burning on the beach and took it to his cave under the sea, taking it under his protection. In the end, fate cannot be prevented, and Hephaestus meets fire on his way to becoming Vulcan and is fascinated by it.

 

The Vulcan character is a lonely one. He keeps himself busy with underground fire and begins to make magnificent shields, armaments, and incredibly beautiful jewellery from that fire. Our ugly god, who was expelled from Olympus, begins to attract attention, and be loved again, thanks to the weapons that the gods would not want to miss in their wars and the goddesses who would quarrel between themselves to wear those beautiful jewellery. So much so that even his mother and father accept him, and he begins to be treated like a god. Now he is the god of metallurgy and crafts… The famous occultist Paracelsus also associated alchemy with Vulcan. Because Alchemy is about the purification of whatever is corrupted in nature through the beauty of the soul within. Vulcan accomplished this using fire. Unfortunately, Vulcan, who was married to Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, will not be able to get rid of loneliness because Aphrodite (Venus) will have an affair with the god of war Ares (Mars)!

 

The god of fire and iron, who was named Hephaestus in Greek mythology, and Vulcan(o) in Roman mythology. Volcano: It is compatible with the word volcano in our language, “volkan” in Turkish. Likewise, the Vulcan character is directly related to volcanoes – even the Etna volcano in particular. The equivalents of the god of fire in other cultures are as follows:

 

Chu Yung – God of fire in Chinese belief. It is believed to punish those who break the rules of the heavens. He fought against his son, who took the throne of heaven.

Agni – God of fire in Vedic (Hindu) belief. Agni means “fire” in Sanskrit. He is depicted as double-headed to symbolize both his destructive and merciful sides. It is considered the life force behind trees and plants.

Sekhmet – It is believed that this Egyptian figure with the head of a lion, a female body and a serpent spewing flames from its mouth defeated its enemies with fire arrows and have a body shimmer under the Sun.

Hammersmith Kawa – The god of fire behind the legend in Iranian, Moroccan, and Kurdish mythologies, who opposes the king and is the reason why the Nowruz Festival is celebrated today. There are many versions of the story.

Huehueteotl – An Aztec male god of fire; He ruled light and fire. It was believed that this old man figure, who was believed to have a red or yellow face, had a continuous incense burning on the top of his head.

Chantico – The female goddess of fire in Aztec mythology, was believed to have a tongue of fire and to be the god of volcanoes and the organ of heart. She is also in Aztec mythology as the ruler of the jewellers.

 

In Manly P. Hall’s book “The Secret Teachings of All Ages”, we see the Vulcan connection under the way Pagan priests interpreted the Solar system. Accordingly, Pagan priests have always thought of the solar system as a Great Man (Adam Kadmon) and derived their analogies regarding these three activity centres from the three life centres in the human body—body, heart, and brain. In the event of Christ’s conversion, three tents are mentioned: in the middle and the largest one (heart) and on either side of its smaller ones (brain and reproductive system). In the 51st year after Christ, three suns appeared in the sky at the same time. In the 69th year, two suns were seen together in the sky. According to William Lilly, twenty similar events were recorded between 1156 and 1648. Seeing that the sun was the most important benefactor of the material world, the Hermetists believed that it was a spiritual sun that satisfies the needs of the invisible and divine part of nature. Paracelcus the Great writes: “There is the Earthly Sun, the source of all heat, and all who have eyes see it, and those who are blind feel its heat, though they cannot see it. There is also the Eternal Sun, the source of all wisdom, those whose spiritual faculties are awakened see this sun, know its existence; those who have not attained spiritual consciousness can feel its power through the inner faculty called “intuition”. Some Rosicrucian scholars have given special names to the following three aspects of the Sun: Vulcan to the spiritual sun; to the solar and intellectual sun, Christ, and Lucifer, respectively; and named the material sun the name of the Jewish Demiurg, Jehovah. Here Lucifer shows the intellectual mind that the spiritual mind has not illuminated, so it is the “false light”. The false light is eventually overcome and saved by the true light of the soul, called the second Logos or Christ. The occult processes involving the conversion of the mind of Lucifer to the mind of Christ constitute one of the great mysteries of alchemy and are symbolized by the process of converting base metals into gold. According to Rosicrucian terminology, there are 7 eras in which the world re-creates itself. These, in order, are 1. Saturn period, 2. Solar period, 3. Moon period, 4. Earth period, 5. Jupiter period, 6. Venus period, and 7. Vulcan period. These have no connection with the motion of the planets around the Sun. These simply refer to past, present, and future incarnations of the world. The first three periods have already occurred. It is believed that we currently are in the period of Earth. Once the other periods are completed, the human race will reach a higher level of perception. In the last three periods, during the enlightenment stage, humanity has discovered the necessary tools, and in the next three periods, humanity will try to perfect the tools and the perception to the highest level.

 

As claimed by astrologers and ancient thinkers, each day of the week is associated with a planetary vibration. (For example, Monday comes from the word Moonday and is associated with the Moon. In Latin, Tuesday is called Dies Martis, that is, the day of Mars. Tuesday, the English equivalent of Tuesday, has evolved from the word “Tirsdag” and the word originates from the name of the Nordic god of war, “Tir” or “Tyr” lies in. The Latin word for Wednesday, which is the English equivalent of Wednesday, is “Dies Mercurii” …). It is said that the Vulcan period will have the energy that will cover all days of the week. In occult science, it is mentioned that souls incarnate 777 times. However, this is not the indication of that our world will undergo metamorphosis 777 times. What is indicated here are the 7 evolutions that will take place in 7 periods in 7 universes. So, the Vulcan period is claimed to be the last and the shortest of these periods. In this period, there will be a creative consciousness and unlimited spiritual enlightenment; It is believed that matter and meaning will become one, and that flowers, people and minerals will reach the same level of perception.

Actually, the term of Vulcan is familiar to many of us. You will remember the Vulcan Salut of Mr. Spock in the Star Trek franchise. Leonard Nimoy, who brought the character to life and was a Jewish, stated that this sign was given when the Holy of Holies was removed in the synagogues. It corresponds to the letter “shin” in Hebrew. Shin is the 21st letter of the Hebrew alphabet and is associated with divine power. Again, this letter resembles the word Shabbat, which refers to the 7th day of creation. Once again, the information that the above-mentioned Vulcan contains the energy of all the days of the week appears here in a different form and indicates a process that includes peace and tranquillity. Alongside with this, there are also beliefs that this sign is related to Kabbalistic spells.

 

 

The Holy of Holies or Kudsulakdas is a term in the Hebrew Bible that refers to the inner temple located within the Tabernacle, where God resides. The Ark of the Covenant is considered to house the Ten Commandments given by God to Moses on Mount Sinai. (Wikipedia)

 

Tubal Cain in the Old Testament is widely believed to be the equivalent of Hephaestus in Greek mythology or Vulcan as it is called in Rome; corresponds to the “god of metallurgy and crafts”. Albert Gallatin Mackey identifies Tubal-Cain mentioned in the Old Testament directly with Hephaestus or Vulcan, arguing that the name Vulcan is derived from “Baal-Cain”, that is, “the god Cain”. According to some other researchers, Hephaestus is the Greek equivalent of Enki, the powerful god of Mesopotamia. Charles Penglease proposes a combination of Hephaestus and Prometheus for Enki, considering that parallels to be drawn between different pantheons will often be “fragmentary” and involve multiple figures: Enki’s roles as an artisan/creator, rebel god, humanity’s helper and intelligent god was divided between Hephaestus and Prometheus. Prometheus takes on the role of humanity’s helper, rebel, and clever god, while Hephaestus takes on Enki’s craft side. (Burak-Eldem-Fraternis pp. 508-509)

 

The planet Vulcan has been hiding for a long time. Like Chiron, it is waiting for the right time to reveal itself. However, it is obvious that the observers of the stars have been trying to catch it for a very long time! In 1840, Urbain Le Verrier began working on Mercury’s axis. The aim is to make additional work on Newton’s gravitational theorem. However, Le Verrier notices very small precessions at the perihelion point of Mercury’s orbit. He names this hypothetical planet Vulcan, but his research is inconclusive. (PERIHELION: The closest point to the sun in an elliptical orbit). Alongside with this, Le Verrier, who discovered Neptune through the same technique and theorem in 1846, leaves a great impression in the scientific world that his claim may be justified. Vulcan’s existence was rejected in 1915, since Einstein introduced the concept of relativity to the scientific world. At this stage, it is stated that Mercury’s slightly more eccentric orbits than Venus or Earth cause the aforementioned precession.

 

However, some significant beliefs that the planet Vulcan can still be discovered yet causes some astronomers to continue searching for the planet. There are also some serious rumours that the planet Vulcan is Planet X or Nibiru, which are widely spoken.

 

Roberta Herzog mentions 12 planets in the solar system. In her book, “Akashic Record-Your Souls Journey Through Time”, she claims that the names of those who have not yet been found are Vulcan, Luron, Florian.

 

So, what does Vulcan mean to us as an astrological sense? At first, it is necessary to underline that the hypothetical celestial body is different from the asteroid named Vulcanus. The Vulcan we are talking about appears as a downward pointing red arrow in natal charts.

 

Many astrologers associate Vulcan with the sign Virgo. Now let’s try to astrologically enumerate and evaluate the attributes attributed to this hypothetical planet! I would like to underline again; The written propositions presented after these materials are the product of research and map studies conducted by me.

 

The planet Vulcan works with the subconscious, and it is about revealing internally hidden abilities of the individual. For example, while the Moon points to the subconscious impulses that we bring by accumulating karma in the charts, Vulcan is related to the upper consciousness. The Vulcan mythology is also associated with finding new, solid, creative, and exciting ways, new solutions, new road maps by breaking down normal methods. Accessing to information is about trying different ways instead of common techniques, t is directly related to the subconscious. If we think of the sun as matter, we can interpret Vulcan as anti-matter, and this leads us to the indispensable concept in our universe, namely duality! In any case, these two, in astronomical terms, are not far apart from each other.

 

You can easily spot Vulcan people when they enter a room because they make you turn your head and look at them. They are intelligent, attractive, and verbally strong people. They are people who cling to life more tightly because they are at peace with themselves and their spiritual aspects, and who enjoy the humane pleasures life has to offer. A Vulcan, who is under pressure, will be introverted, impulsive and jealous. Fears of abandonment, insecurity in and around themselves, and sociopathic conditions can be observed. It should not be forgotten that Zeus tied Prometheus, who gave fire to humanity as a gift, to the top of a high mountain with chains made by Hephaestus. We’re talking about a skilful individual that makes both incredible jewelleries and the most notorious weapons. We can see that very accomplished designers, interior designers, or engineers have a connection with a well angled Vulcan. Weapons and jewellery, there’s a bit of a complex structure here. A merciful yet can do great damage when gets angry! They can be an artist who can design incredibly beautiful jewellery from precious stones, or a genius who develops nuclear weapons!

Based on its mythology, I think that Vulcan also has a connection with the luck that will later come into our lives. In fact, the story also points to symbols such as recognition, love and power that will be gained as a result of a life that is undesired and started with difficulties.

 

There is a detail that we overlook quickly when talking about its mythology, however it is symbolically extremely important. Yes, our hero is married to Aphrodite, that is to Venus!!! However, Venus and Mars get together, and our hero is both very upset and mad about this incident and on the way to have revenge. Knowing this, we can underline that Vulcan will not be very comfortable in his connections especially with Mars and Venus. While he loves Neptune and intuitive Pisces more who accept him, he will be wary of Jupiter and Juno who left him.

 

Naturally, all kinds of underground issues are related volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, mines, stones, precious stones. When we look back to the event on January 14, 2022, one of the strongest volcanic eruptions seen in the Tongatapu Islands; We observe Vulcan in Retrograde and in full conjunction with Pluto! It is claimed that Vulcan has connections with amethyst, moonstone, and sapphire.

 

A Vulcan can be quite distressed under pressure. We may come across to a person who has difficulty in expressing themself, is introverted, lacks the power of creativity, and has no connection with spirituality. Vulcan is also associated with spirituality. Frankly, like many astrologers, I humbly think that this planet is waiting to be discovered has a connection with Virgo, which is the part of the earth element. Its classical ruler is Mercury, but if one day this planet can be found, I think that the 6th House and Virgo rulership will be handed over to Vulcan. I have no doubt that it will hide first and then amaze all of us with all his glory, just like in the mythology!
